Editorial policy
Authentic News Compass aims to explain news-reading concepts clearly and fairly. We distinguish claims from established information, give readers enough context to follow our reasoning, and correct errors when they are identified.
Accuracy and clarity
We check factual statements against relevant material available to us and take care not to present an interpretation as a fact. Articles should make their scope clear, explain important terms, and acknowledge meaningful uncertainty. We do not promise that every account can be complete; we do expect wording to reflect what is and is not supported.
Independence and interests
Editorial decisions are made for reader understanding. A commercial relationship does not determine an editorial conclusion, and any material interest relevant to a piece should be disclosed plainly. We do not present paid promotion as independent editorial work.
Corrections
Readers can use the Contact page to flag a possible error, giving the article and passage where possible. We assess correction requests, update material when warranted, and make the nature of a substantive correction clear to readers. A disagreement in interpretation is not automatically a factual error, but it will be considered carefully.
Partners and illustrations
Paid, provided or partner material is clearly identified so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial content. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where that applies, the illustration is labelled. Images are not treated as evidence for a factual claim unless their origin and relevance are made clear.
Good reading begins with a careful question
A clear account makes room for what is known, what is claimed, and what is still unclear. Reading well means keeping those distinctions in view.
